Search and missing coverage
The application does not write those searches as raw history. When no reviewed match exists, it may increment a coarse aggregate containing only brand, appliance, normalized display value, dates, and count. It does not persist the raw query, unrelated text, serial number, or full model number. This aggregate is a research-priority signal only and never publication evidence.
Correction reports
Correction reports store the selected page, brand, appliance, optional model number, displayed code, category, short note, and optional official source URL. Do not submit serial numbers, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, passwords, payment details, or warranty account numbers. Abuse protection stores a short-lived one-way request fingerprint, never a raw IP address.
Fix or Replace entries
Calculator inputs and results stay in the current browser tab's React memory. They are not written to URLs, the database, accounts, cookies, local storage, session storage, logs, or detailed analytics.
Administrative access
The separate Admin area uses GitHub authentication and necessary session cookies. It is restricted to an allowlist and is not part of the anonymous public experience.
Advertising when enabled
Appliance Code Check may use Google AdSense after approval. Advertising is not active merely because this policy describes it. When advertising is enabled, Google and participating advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers to serve and measure ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on visits to this site or other sites where legally permitted.
Users in relevant regions may be shown a consent-management message. Their choices may affect personalized, non-personalized, or limited ad serving. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab).
Advertising data is handled separately from correction reports, coarse search-demand data, calculator entries, and Admin authentication data. Advertising does not turn those site inputs into publication evidence.
Your choices
When available, use the consent message to make or revisit advertising choices. You can also manage personalized-ad preferences in Google's advertising settings (opens in a new tab) and manage or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some site or advertising functions.
