What the calculators use—and what they do not

All seven calculators use a narrow quote-first boundary for US/en-US/USD. Missing facts remain missing rather than being replaced with invented values.

User-supplied values

Actual repair and replacement quotes, age, recent failures, warranty state, safety symptoms, and category-specific quote scope come from the user. They are temporary calculation inputs, not source evidence, and are not stored.

Active model configurations

The active versioned policies are Washing Machine 0.2.0; Dryer 0.1.0; Refrigerator 0.1.0; Dishwasher 0.1.0; Range & Oven 0.1.0; Water Heater 0.1.0; Central Air Conditioner 0.1.0. Repair-share thresholds, age bands, repeat-failure adjustments, and close-decision margins are labeled policy rather than market facts.

Category evidence boundary

Reviewed government, manufacturer, standards, and accepted national-service evidence supports safety, warranty structure, lifespan context, professional-work boundaries, equipment matching, and installation completeness where applicable. Internal evidence records and excerpts remain private.

Error-code context

An error code is context, not a confirmed diagnosis. The public calculator does not expose private failure-family mappings, infer a repair cost from a code, or import unpublished candidates. Published error-code pages remain the attributable source for manufacturer guidance.

Excluded claims and sources

No retailer estimate, marketplace listing, search snippet, paid AI output, private review draft, predicted component failure, repair success rate, guaranteed coverage, or promised remaining life is used.

Privacy boundary

Raw calculator answers are not persisted or sent in analytics. Only coarse events—directory viewed, started, safety stop, completed, broad result class, and methodology viewed—are eligible.
